GOA VELHA: Sao Jose de Areal SC beat Maina Sports Club Curtorim 5-3 via the tie-breaker in the 12th London Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Goa Velha SC held at Goa Velha ground, on Saturday.
Myson Fernandes of the Curtorim side created the first attempt of the game early on as he ran down the right side and later passed it inside to Mairon Fernandes but he shot out. On the other side, Haston Dias controlled the ball well and set up Aloiston Silva but his shot sailed over the cross bar.
But Aloiston made no mistake a little while later as he ran down the center field inside and scored past the keeper as the Areal side lead 1-0 in the 27th minute. Maina had a chance of making it 1-1 just before half time as Maison’s corner to Myson but he headed high from close.
Savio Fernandes made it all square as he headed it in off Floyd’s corner in the 70th minute as the final whistle called for a draw.
In the tie-breaker, Haston Dias, Joseph Monteiro, Caeston Gomes and Frederick Endro scored for the Areal side while Floyd Barretto and Veron Fernandes scored for the Curtorim side.
