PONDA: MGP-GSM-Shiv Sena alliance’s star campaigner Sudin Dhavalikar finds no time to focus on his own campaign in his Marcaim constituency.
Even his brother Deepak, who is seeking re-election from Priol constituency, is busy canvassing voters door-to-door.
Since seeking the blessings of the deities at Marcaim and Bandora to kick start his election campaign, Sudin has not been seen in his constituency so far.
Nonetheless, his campaign is in full swing and it is being steered by his wife Jyothi and son Mathil. Sudin’s family members and supporters are seen holding corner meetings and door-to-door visits in all the six panchayats of the constituency, which include Kavlem, Bandora, Marcaim, Agapur, Talavlim and Kundai.
When asked what was the mood and response of the people to their campaign in the absence of the candidate, a Sudin supporter Rajesh Kavlekar said, “We are getting a tremendous response from the people. Sudin is busy canvassing for alliance candidates wherever they have been fielded, as he is the main leader having huge responsibilities. The Marcaim voters are excited to see Sudin as chief minister of Goa, as such, they are asking us not to visit them as they are with Sudin.”
However, he said, the sarpanchas of the six panchayats have taken charge of Sudin’s election campaign in their respective villages. Besides, he said, the MGP would hold two big meetings, one at Ponda and the other at Marcaim in the coming days.
Kavlekar was confident that Sudin would win the election by a margin of 18,000 votes.
