Thursday morning was a nightmare for Saif Ali Khan, a noted Bollywood actor and the husband of actress Kareena Kapoor, as he not only woke up to the screams of his maid in his son’s room but he also had to shield his family from the attacker. The 54-year-old actor was attacked six times at his home in the 12-storey building in Bandra West.
According to the police, the attacker entered the actor’s home, spread over four floors, where he is living with Kareena and their two sons, to commit burglary. The intruder entered the compound next to the building where the actor stays. He then scaled the wall to cross over. Once inside the compound, the intruder took a flight of stairs on the rear side of the building and finally gained access to the actor’s apartment through a fire escape.
Saif was alerted to the situation by an altercation between the intruder and his domestic help. When the actor tried to intervene and pacify the man, he attacked and injured him. His domestic help rushed him to the hospital in a rickshaw as there were no cars ready. Saif was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent two surgeries as he was bleeding from six stab injuries, one of them in his spine.
Saif’s team issued a statement, “Saif Ali Khan has come out of surgery and is out of danger. He is currently in recovery, and the doctors are monitoring his progress. All family members are safe, and the police are investigating the incident,” it read.
