PANJIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has appealed to the people to strictly follow 21-day lockdown announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to fight COVID-19 that has infected more than 500 in the country so far.
“We are taking every precautionary measure to combat the spread of the infection. There is no cure for the virus and hence I appeal to people to not step out of your houses unless there is an emergency. The government will also strictly follow this, and those found violating the order, will face action,” he said in a video appeal to the people.
Vehicles have been issued passes by the District Collector, and government servants on showing their identity cards to the police are allowed to venture out with utmost precaution. The media personnel are also amongst the essential services.
