PANJIM, FEB 2
Virtually endorsing the allegation of the BJP that Goa Police are inefficient and were not sincere in policing, Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Pratapsing Rane on Wednesday said the Police Department should work rather seriously.
Taking congnizance of objection raised by the Opposition about all information that was not given with respect to two starred postponed questions from the last session, the Speaker observed that six months was sufficient enough to collect information sought by the members.
The two postponed questions pertained to criminal cases pending for investigation, which the Home Minister Ravi Naik said could not be answered in totality this session as police needed more time to collect detailed information asked by the members.
Opposition Leader Manohar Parrikar rejected the reply saying it cannot be accepted as the answers pertained to postponed questioned of July Assembly session.
Taking serious note of objections raised, the Speaker said the Police Department is not working sincerely and properly.
He also warned that the concerned secretary will be pulled-up if the reply is not given in time.
“The House cannot be taken for granted and this will go on their record if they do not reply in time”, the Speaker said.
