CANACONA: The Canacona Congress Block has decided to agitate if their members, especially women, are discriminated or harassed while extending government schemes and benefits.
This was decided at the block meeting at Canacona recently, which was attended by South Goa District Congress President Subhash Phaldessai and ex-MLA and GPCC spokesperson Isidore Fernandes to rejuvenate the block’s grass-roots organization.
Some congress workers alleged that women Congress workers and others Congress-affiliated beneficiaries to different government schemes were being harassed with threats that they could stop getting benefits under various schemes if they continued to attend Congress meetings.
It was also agreed to constitute a new committee with new members and thereafter formation of booth level committees.
Prominent members present for the meeting were ex-chairperson of Canacona Municipal Council Rajendra Dessai and ZP Member (Poinguinim) Daya Pagi.
