PANJIM: The All Goa Private Bus Owners Association (AGPBOA) on Saturday demanded termination of contract of an agency fixing digital fare meters as one of its members is involved in criminal cases including money laundering and Hawala transactions.

Addressing a press conference at Azad Maidan, here, AGPBOA General Secretary Sudip Tamhankar alleged that one of the promotors of Rosmerta Autotech Private Limited is involved in alleged criminal cases and was arrested by the Bangalore CID in an alleged money laundering case.

Tamhankar said that the as per the government rule, any person who is involved in criminal cases or having criminal background should not be given government contracts and demanded that the tender awarded to the company be cancelled.

He said that company’s owner Vivek Nagpal was involved in criminal cases and scams reported in Maharashtra, Karnakata, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

Tamhankar said that Nagpal was awarded contracts of fixing High Security Registration Plates (HSRP), automotive vehicle tracking system, smart RC books and smart driving licences.

He charged that Nagpal sub-leased most of the tenders, received money from them and later cheated them.  He has been arrested by the Bangalore CID for money laundering and in Hawala dealings.

Refusing to accept Transport Department’s contention that Nagpal had nothing to do with the company, Tamhankar said that Nagpal was in complete control of the company as his two sons and his father hold shares in the Rosmerta Autotech Private Limited and demanded that the government should immediately terminate the contract awarded to the company.

He also demanded that the government should scrap the GoaMiles taxi service.
