PANJIM: Former St Cruz MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate on Monday confirmed that Asmita Kerkar has been finalised as candidate for the post of Deputy Mayor of Panjim, while the mayoral candidate will be declared later. 

Monserrate also went to say that the elections for both posts will be held before March 15.

Speaking to Herald, Monserrate said, “Asmita Kerkar has been finalised from our panel as candidate for the post of Deputy Mayor of Corporation of the city of Panaji(CCP) which is currently held by Lata Parekh. Candidate for mayor’s post will be declared later.”

Earlier, Monserrate had confirmed that there would be a change in guard in both posts. Sources have said Uday Madkaikar is leading the race for the post of Mayor.
