CALANGUTE: The Post mortem report of the 4 year-old child allegedly killed by his mother Suchana Seth has revealed that the child was smothered to death using a pillow or other object nearly 36 hours ago. The post-mortem of the child was conducted at the Hiriyur Hospital mortuary, in Karnataka after the mother was arrested on Tuesday night.

The father of the deceased boy arrived from Indonesia and was present during the autopsy. He has taken custody of the body and has flown it to Bengaluru to conduct final rites.

The Goa Police remained tight-lipped till late at night on the details of how the boy was killed. However, Dr Kumar Naik and Dr Range Gowda, who conducted the post-mortem on the body of the child, revealed how the gruesome murder, which has evoked countrywide attention and universal condemnation, was carried out.

Dr Naik while issuing a video statement given to media in Hiriyur late evening, said that the child was smothered.

“The boy could have probably died due to suffocation using a pillow or other object. The child doesn’t seem like he was killed by strangulation using hands,” he said. “The killing took place over 36 hours ago. The face and chest are swollen due to suffocation. The child’s nose was bleeding,” he said.

Some important observations of the doctors who conducted the autopsy, also suggested that there was no blood loss or injury marks and no signs of struggle on the body. All signs suggest strangulation (without the use of bare hands). It’s natural for a child to struggle during strangulation, but there are no evident signs of the same. There are no signs of scratches also on the body,” the doctor said.

Suchana Seth remanded to police custody for six days
MAPUSA: Suchana Seth (39), accused of murdering her son, was remanded to six-day police custody by the court on Tuesday.
Team of forensic experts have collected evidence from the service apartment room and the vehicle that was used by Seth to take the body to her home in Bengaluru. Sources in the Goa police have informed that the scissor that Seth used to cut her hand, has also been recovered.
The entire incident happened while the estranged husband was in Indonesia. He arrived back in India and went straight to Hiriyur Hospital mortuary, was the body of his son is preserved.
Sources at the Calangute police station have revealed that Seth has not shown any willingness to reveal the details of the alleged crime and has been insisting on having a lawyer.
While it is being said that the murder of the child was out of the strained relations between Suchana and her husband Venkat Raman.
It has come to light there was a difference of opinion over the custody of the boy.
Highly placed sources have informed that the blood stains found on the room upholstery, were actually from the cuts Suchana Seth inflicted on her hand.

The heroes who helped catch the mom who has blood on her hands
The room boy who spotted blood stains in room 404 of the hotel, the security guards the taxi driver and above all the Calangute police helped discover the most heinous of crimes and the criminal

SINQUERIM: The room boy who spotted the blood stains, the security who kept an eye on this suspicious guest who suddenly checked out, the taxi driver who aided the detention of the accused and most importantly the Calangute police who swiftly acted and intercepted the accused in Chitradurga, arrest of Suchana Seth is an example of how common men rise up to become aware and become heroes along with the men in uniform.
A highly placed official while speaking to the media said, “If the blood stains were not observed and reported the case would have been left in the abyss and difficult to trace.”
However, it is important to point out that during interrogation, Seth seems to have said that the blood was hers since she had tried to cut herself with glass after her heinous act. The post-mortem of the infant victim also proves that the child
was smothered.
The most important role was played by the taxi driver who tactfully spoke to the police in Konkani and very swiftly took the vehicle to the nearest police station, which resulted in the detention of Suchana Seth.
Last but the most important role is of the Calangute police who took the right calls, busting Seth’s lie about keeping her child at Fatorda, and then swiftly interacting with the Karnataka police and speaking to the driver to get to the police station, without alerting Seth.
The role of all these heroes, especially Calangute PI Paresh Naik and DySP Vishwesh Karpe, has ensured that the case was cracked in less than 24 hours.
