PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Monday said that Governnor Mridula Sinha in her address in the Assembly failed to speak on burning issues including nationalisation of rivers, import of coal, mining and regional plan.

Addressing the media, GPCC President, Shantaram Naik said, “The Governor failed to address key issues of the State in her speech. She did not address the important issue of nationalisation of rivers which the people of Goa are opposing. She should have come clear on what is the thinking of the government on this issue and whether they have considered the problems of the fisherman and are ready to act.”

He added, “Another important issue on import of coal was missing. The govt has given a confusing stand on this issue and the Governor should have made a clear mention about this.”

He further said that the Congress stand is clear on the issue of import of coal that only coal required for local use must be permissible. “We wanted to know whether our suggestion has been considered or not but that too did not come up in her address,” he said.

Speaking further the GPCC President said the Governor missed the crucial issue of Regional Plan (RP) and the recent mining issue. “I am only referring to some three to four major issues that failed to come up in the speech,” he added

Naik also said that Congress wishes Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar a speedy recovery and if needed, he may be shifted to foreign country for further treatment.
