PANJIM: The Cyber Crime Cell of Goa Police arrested a man for allegedly cheating a woman of Rs 5.45 lakh approximately on pretext of an online marriage proposal.
Ajit Waiker (45) of Pune, was arrested following a formal complaint lodged by the victim woman from Siolim. The complainant alleged that the accused developed trust with her between September 23, 2020 and June 6, 2021 and trickled her into sending online payment. The accused allegedly took the woman into confidence "of getting marriage through Bharat Matrimony...". The victim on realising she was duped by the man lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell seeking action against the fraudster and ensuring her money is returned by the accused.
