PANJIM: Even as Margao MLA Digambar Kamat supported railway double tracking on Tuesday, if he rekindles his memory, then he would remember the protest he had staged in front of South Western Railway (SWR) headquarters at Hubballi, Karnataka, on November 10, 2020, when he was the Leader of Opposition.
While protesting in front of the SWR headquarters, Digambar Kamat had said, “We have come to the General Manager’s office (Hubballi) and met the Additional General Manager. We have discussed with him and given him a memorandum and told him that whatever is going on in Goa (double tracking), if you don’t stop it, the consequences will be enormous.”
Yes, these were his words.
A delegation of Goa Congress led by Kamat, had submitted a memorandum to the SWR Additional General Manager P K Mishra, demanding to scrap the track doubling in Goa.
Kamat had further said, “We requested South Western Railways to scrap the track doubling in Goa. We also came to Hubbali to convey the sentiment of Goa regarding the project. The people of Goa are boiling in anger,” he had said.
Earlier, Kamat had also participated in the candlelight protest at Chandor, opposing the double tracking on November 2, 2020.
