MMC appeals to doctors to attend two COVID Care Centres in making

MARGAO:  Agnelo Fernandes the chief officer of Margao Municipal Council appealed to doctors to offer their services to the two proposed COVID Care Centres in the municipal areas. Deputy Collector Jyoti Kumari has issued an order to hand over the premises where the COVID Care Centres are to be set.

The deputy collector pointed out that the collector has already requisitioned the entire premises of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at Fatorda and the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium at Navelim and asked that the premises be handed over MMC Chief Officer.

The chief officer said the ferocity of the second wave of COVID pandemic was unexpected and unseen and said as a result of which the people have been caught unawares and said the MMC is in the process of setting up two COVID Care Centres at the above mentioned stadiums within the jurisdiction of the Margao Municipal Council area.

He appealed to people to help the council in tackling this menace and particularly appealed to doctors to offer their services to attend to the patients who will be houses at these two care centres. Agnelo requested the doctors to give at least one hour of their services to the proposed COVID Care Centres.

The chief officer said that there are around 350 doctors in Margao registered with the Indian Medical Association and said their services would be of immense help and added that many councillors and philanthropists have assured their total support to the COVID Care Centres.
