The Village Panchayat Calangute, during a special meeting, has decided to give a special design for all the temporary shacks and roadside stalls to give a beautiful look to the Calangute village for the tourism season.

Sarpanch Anthony Menezes has directed all temporary shacks and roadside stall owners to erect the shacks and stalls according to the design provided by the panchayat with proper rules in order to get licence to carry on their business.

Sarpanch Menezes said that the panchayat will first provide provisional NOC to the owners and after inspecting the erected shacks and stalls, the actual licence will be issued. Menezes also said that licences will not be issued to those who fail to follow the rules and observe the erecting design.

The panchayat body also took a resolution to ban using of plastic to cover the shacks and stalls since it gives a bad look. The panchayat also instructed that the temporary shacks and stalls should be erected at 3 metres distance from the roadside parking. The panchayat body also took a resolution not to provide licence to temporary huts in private property since there are already enough hotels and guest houses in Calangute who provide rooms to tourists.

The sarpanch also said that the penchant will be getting more four garbage trucks for collection of door to door garbage and more bins will be distributed. Menezes also said that a special app has been created which will keep check on the garbage trucks as well as people who do not segregate the garbage.
