SMC lays foundation for two roads

BICHOLIM: The foundation stone for two pending roads was laid by the Sanquelim Municipal Council chairperson Dharmesh Saglani on Tuesday.

The first road was at Harvalem for the villagers of Sawsarwada. As per the locals this road has been pending for the last over 25 years. "There are about 10 houses here and we are not having any road since last several years. We are happy that this road will come up which will solve our problems," Datta Kerkar said. The second road is from Maulingtad to Sanquelim market. There was demand for both these roads and with the efforts of the chairman these roads would now be reality.


Odisa native arrested with drugs

CALANGUTE: Calangute police seized Ganja worth Rs 24,000 on Monday and arrested one Odisa native Sudarshan Deo (35) for illegally possessing narcotic substance suspected to be Ganja.

PI Jivba Dalvi said that he received information from reliable sources about the accused person moving around with drugs on Calangute beach. Accordingly a team was formed and a raid was conducted during which the accused was found possessing ganja weighing 240 grams worth Rs 24,000. He is arrested under section 20(b)(ii) (A) of the NDPS Act and has been remanded 14 days judicial custody. PSI Mahesh Naik is further investigating. The raiding team was headed by PI Jivba Dalvi consisting of PSI Mahesh Naik, PC Dinesh Morajkar and Govind Shirodkar.


Website for Marna-Siolim panchayat 

MAPUSA: Marna-Siolim village Panchayat will soon to have its own website and e-payments service. This was decided at the gram sabha held on Sunday among other resolutions. A resolution was also taken to have its own mini fire station and also identified land for setting up the fire station at the Siolim police station.

The panchayat also decided not to issue occupancy certificates to complexes before they form society.


Rane lays foundation for Valpoi ground

VALPOI: The Valpoi Municipal Council in commemoration of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Goa's liberation in association with Government of Goa, laid the foundation stone for proposed development of existing Valpoi Municipal ground at the hands of Pratapsingh Raoji Rane and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.

The Chairperson of Valpoi Municipal council Parvin Shaikh, Vice Chairperson Sayyad Sarfraz and all councillors, Zila members were present.

“Through this ground, we are starting  the development work in Valpoi constituency. This ground is an important ground and part of Valpoi beautification. The Valpoi Municipality has taken a resolution to repair/ construct all internal roads of Municipality wards for development,” said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
