PANJIM: Those desirous to be teachers at the elementary school level (Class I to VIII) will have to answer the Goa Teacher Eligibility Test (GTET), scheduled on November 21, this year.

As per the provision of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, it is essential for a teacher to qualify in the test to be employed to teach from Classes I to VIII. Accordingly, earlier this month, the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) notified the GTET.

“The Government of Goa is pleased to declare that the persons desirous to be teachers in Class I to VIII (elementary) in Goa shall require to qualify in GTET, from 2021 onwards,” the SCERT said.

Two separate tests will be conducted for candidates for Class I to V and for Class VI to VIII.

The GTET is applicable to government, and aided schools along with those private schools under State administration control.

To qualify, the candidate will have to score 60 per cent or at least 90 out of 150 marks in the test. All questions in GTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The examination will be held across 12 centres. Any candidate having qualified B Ed Programme recognised by the NCTE is eligible to appear in GTET.
