Positivity rate registers slight increase

PANJIM: The daily COVID positivity rate in Goa witnessed a slight high, a day after reporting a significant drop. 

The virus-related fatalities, however, continued to be on a higher side with 61 persons losing their lives in the last 24 hours. Of these around 15 died at Goa Medical College and Hospital during the dark hours of 2 am to 6 am. The overall deaths are also inching to 2,000. 

In the last 24 hours, the positivity rate was recorded at 36.27 per cent. On Thursday, the positivity rate has dropped to 35.16 per cent from 41.40 per cent on the previous day.  

As per the Health Bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services, the State’s recovery rate of COVID patients is also showing an improvement as it stood at 74.07 per cent on Friday. 

Of the 6,769 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 2,455 tested positive for COVID-19, while 2,960 persons recovered. Improved daily recovery has brought slight relief as the State’s active case tally stood at 32,387, which was 32,953 till Thursday. 

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,32,585 people tested positive for the virus of which 98,200 have recovered while 1,998 succumbed. 

The last 24 hours has also recorded 153 persons discharged from hospital while 2,121 were home isolation patients.
