Restart financial schemes, ‘pilots’ urge CM

PANJIM: The Motorcycle Pilot Association has urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to restart financial assistance schemes, which have been stopped by the government. 

In a virtual meeting with Chief Minister, the delegation comprising BJP leader Damu Naik, also acknowledged help rendered by some legislators and individuals to help them financially during the crisis, particularly when the COVID-19 induced lockdown was imposed.

“The motorcycle pilots, rickshaw operators are in crisis due to the prevailing situation and are expecting financial benefits. Some of us did receive help from the respective MLAs, social workers and individuals. We have urged the Chief Minister to start again the schemes, which are stopped such as Rs 2,000 monthly scheme for pilots above 50 years of age, subsidy scheme for replacement of vehicles and others,” an association member said while talking to the media persons.

The motorcycle pilots’ demands were reiterated by the rickshaw operators.
