Due to the negligence of smart city authorities, the electricity cables laid at St. Inez, Panjim were damaged by the workers on Thursday evening. Despite the lineman informing them not to mishandle the cables and the transformer, the workers went ahead ignoring the lineman damaging the cables.

“Yesterday during the work, I informed the workers not to mishandle the electric transformer. First, complete the work around it then remove it. Now without finishing the work, the workers have already removed the box till we could reach the spot. Now due to the moisture and rains, it is very dangerous to go anywhere near the vicinity as electricity has begun emitting out of it,” said the lineman who escaped from the tragic fate of being electrocuted.

The lineman further expressed his frustration by stating that the smart city workers not only mishandled the transformer box but also ruptured the cables that provided electricity to the neighbouring residences. Due to the workers and the authorities, the situation in the St. Inez area is becoming worse.

The cables were emitting electricity when the lineman went to check. Luckily the lineman was unharmed but warned the authorities about the danger. The lineman further explained that this situation could have been fatal wherein not only the lineman repairing the cables but any local, pedestrian or animal could face their demise. The emission is severe and dangerous.
