FC Goa booked their place in the Dream Sports Championship National Finals after they beat Dempo SC 4-3 in penalty shootouts at the Rosary College Grounds in Navelim on Thursday. Dempo SC dominated Group A and reached the finals winning both their group games easily. In Group B, FC Goa had to beat Belgaum United Football Academy(BUFA ) 6-5 in the deciding penalty shootout on Thursday afternoon to reach the finals.

A well-fought-out finals saw both FC Goa and Dempo SC locked in a 0-0 draw, taking the match into penalties. Saideep Tate, Callum Fernandes, Ronit Correa and Rohan Fernandes scored for FC Goa, while Jodric Abranches, Nash Fernandes and Ashon Vaz scored for Dempo SC. “At least six of our important players are giving the class X examinations and we missed their presence. But our boys still played their best to win this tournament,& quota; said FC Goa coach Gavin Araujo.

FC Goa goalkeeper Tajamul Islam, who helped his team win against Belgaum United as well as Dempo in penalty shootouts, said, “I am very happy to have helped my team win today.”
