RAIA: Margao Sports Club booked semi-finals berth defeating Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda, 4-2, in the 15th Davorlim Cup organised by Sporting Club of Davorlim, at Davorlim Panchayat ground, on Friday.
The match started on a fast pace and Fr Agnelo YSC scored the first goal in 8th minutes of play with powerful header by Livon but their joy was short-listed as Meviton Barbosa’s header from a corner kick landed in the Fr Agnelo YSC net.
Later, the match turned in favour of Margao SC in 17th minute, as Meviton scored through a penalty kick as Elroy Barreto of Margao SC was brought down in the danger area.
As match was heading for half time, Meviton completed his hat-trick by scoring their third goal.
At half time, Margao SC were leading 3-1.
In second half, Regan Costa of Fr Agnelo YSC scored with a neat placement in the 40th minute. Thereafter, tempo of the match turned and Fr Agnelo YSC attacked the Margao SC defence time and again. In the bargain, Selton Fernandes’ powerful right footer hit the crossbar and out of play. Later on, Margao SC scored another goal with a powerful volley from the box through the boots of Myron.
Meviton Barbosa of Margao Sports Club was awarded the man-of-the-match award by Simon Carvalho.
