Shobhit has been lucky to have spent his picture perfect childhood in a small town of Dehradun, capital of Uttarakhand in the hills of north India. He carries with him some great memories of trekking, cycling and excellent tea time with his friends in the hills and valleys famous for its lip-smacking summer special litchis.
A die-hard fan of Roger Federer, Shobhit tries to emulate him in the tennis court every morning between 6.30 am to 7.30 am, sweating out to copy his styles which he closely watches on television. “Tennis is my all-time favourite and of course Roger Federer is my idol. But since the monsoons have set in it is difficult to play tennis in the rains. Hence, I have recently acquired a new one to take an early morning walk on the beach,” said Shobhit Sawhney.
Being a hotelier he keeps meeting plenty of new faces every day. “There are a zillion memorable moments that come to mind but one that really made me step back and realign my thinking was this one from my time in UK. On one of the visits to give expert talk to students at a primary school in UK, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the innocent yet intriguing questions that the kids put in front of me. What was even more refreshing was the innovative ideas they had in mind at their tender age. It made me think how we adults tend to compartmentalise and complicate simple things, which an innocent mind comprehends in so much simpler way and with a fresh approach,” added Shobhit.
He recalled that life in UK was great with many friends and a great social life. However, seeing the diverse shift in the culture and upbringing of kids in a foreign country, his wife Vallari and he would get nostalgic about their family moments and simple pleasures in life.
“We are thankful of being born in a generation where the world was more real and less virtual than what is it today. When my daughter Anoosha was born, we started to undertand the simple values of life,” added Shobhit.
To bring his daughter closer to home to give her a perfect mix of multicultural attributes and manners Shobhit decided to take up this job with Hyatt and Goa proved for him a perfect detination. Vallari too loves Goa as she is an avid photographer and an expert in capturing the right moments in a frame.
He mentioned that Goa has helped him appreciate the simple pleasures of life which we often take for granted. From the beautiful monsoons, to the sumptuous yet simple food, amazing people and the charming lifestyle – everything has an aura of delight which makes life here more meaningful and fulfilling.
