Konkani songs always bring out fond memories in Goans and especially
when 23 budding participants are belting
out their best, the event has to be successful. Goencho Avaz held its finals at
Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and the music echoed out of the hall was not just the
beats of the brass band but also of the supporters cheering Goan youngsters.
The full house auditorium was encouraging
for the participants. Some music lovers had to be sent back due to
unavailability of seats but later accommodated in the auditorium when they
showed willingness to stand and watch the event. The songs selected by the participants
built a bond with the audience with its music and meaningful lyrics. While the participants
have to add their versatility to make it their own, the audience was so
impressed by their talent that every participants was asked for a repeat
performance which was denied due to time constraints.
Damu Naik, the Chief Guest for the event, found
the excitement among the participants and audience so exhilarating that he took
to the stage to declare his full support for the future events. He said, “The
joy of music and the energy levels of the youngsters on stage adds life to the
music competition. I was always worried about how our beautiful songs will be
kept alive but it is great to see the next generation take it a step further.”
The mega finals will be held on July 30, 2014 at Kala
Academy, Panjim and will see guest performances by renowned Konkani artistes
Lulu Fortes, Anthony San, Sonia Shirsat, Fr Domnic Alvares and performances by
