Ever
wondered how the participants of the show ‘Wipeout’ must have felt while negotiating
their way through the various hurdles to qualify to the next round? Providing
you the opportunity to experience something similar is the Monsoon Fun Park
(MFP). Set up by Monsoon Open Water Park Pvt Ltd this first of its kind park in
India is an inflatable sports park on water. The fully modular inflatable units
are joined together to create a fun aquatic game course that is challenging,
recreational and guarantees to take fun to whole new level in Goa. Launched in
Goa at Resorte Marinha Dourada, Arpora, MFP has challenges and obstacles which
make the park sporty. “The Park has sports water equipment that offers
challenges that aim at making visitors healthier. The entire project is eco
friendly and can be enjoyed even by kids as young as 6 years,” says marine
consultant, Derrick Menezes, COO of MFP. The fun park will be open throughout
the year from 10am to 6pm daily.
Another
water park that has set a benchmark for water activities away from the beach is
Splashdown Goa Waterpark along the Calangute-Anjuna Main Road. Created by
marine engineers Melroy Pinto and Levancio D’Souza and operating for over four
years, 365 days of the year, Melroy has seen the number of fun lovers increase
over the years. With a total of 11 slides of eight different types, the water
park offers day long excitement with family and friends.

“We
have gained popularity by word of mouth and we cannot afford to close the water
park for a single day because we get customers from all over Goa who travel
from far off places like Quepem and Canacona just to spend the day here. The
pools are kept warm during the monsoons which makes it even more enjoyable. The
customers can enjoy the slides and indulge in other fun activities like rain
dances and photo ops at the park. We also have restaurants within the park;
this eliminates the need to leave the park searching for places to eat,” says
Melroy, who will be introducing two new slides shortly.
Offering
a different kind of adventure, Goa Tourism has launched various projects that
will give you a bird’s eye view of the locale, literally. Though the trial runs
have been done this season, all the projects will start operations from the
next season. Taking to the skies of Goa, the Cameroon 180 will be part of the
hot air balloon fleet that will be showcasing the hinterlands of Goa that are
rarely explored by tourists. This adventure project will be operated by Camping
Retreats of India Pvt. Ltd, a Delhi based agency.
Ameya
Abhyankar, Director of Tourism, cites the example of how scenic it is to see
Hot Air Balloons over Cappadocia, Turkey. “There are like a 100 hot air
balloons over the sky at the same time. Goa will be one of the states in the
country to offer these adventures,” says Ameya. The Amphibious Vessel for
civilian use will make its way through Goa’s inland waterways, with tours to
the crocodile coves, bird watching trips and more. The 33-seater passenger
vessels can operate both on land and sea and will operate throughout Goa in
over seven routes across five talukas.
Also,
the seaplane, which recently had a successful trial flight, will launch post
monsoons. “Goa will offer a world class experience to its tourists and locals.
These services in other parts of India are booked six months in advance. Imagine
flying over Dudhsagar in its full glory during the monsoons, what a stunning
landscape it will be,” says Ameya as he paints a scenic image of Goa.
