Inching towards glory

Fresh from its victory over Bangladesh, India will now take on the mighty Aussies in Mohali in the semi final decider today. Café speaks to a few Goans and feels the pulse

While
India’s face-off with Pakistan was the most awaited,
the
hosts’ encounter with Bangladesh proved to be the most interesting
match yet in the tournament. By clinching victory from the jaws of
defeat, India taught the Bangladesh team a thing or two about the
game and schooled its’ fans on sportsmanship (remember the
photoshopped image of Taskin Ahmed holding MS Dhoni’s severed
head?). However, victory here is key, so what does Goa think of
what’s in store?

India
will carry immense optimism from the manner in which it snatched
victory against Bangladesh. In as much as India kept its nerve in a
tense run chase, it will be mindful of the fact that it wasn’t a
game it won as much as Bangladesh lost. India won’t have that kind
of luck with the Aussies for sure

Okay,
so India needs to defeat Australia to make it to the semis. Australia
needs to defeat India to achieve the same. Pakistan is out of the
tournament. What does Bangladesh need to do? Photoshop the team
standing page maybe? LOL

Both
India and Australia started their World T20 2016 campaign by losing
to New Zealand and bouncing back from there on. While it looks like
an evenly poised game, interestingly India and Australia’s recent
clashes show that team India has been unbeaten by Australia in the
last five T20 internationals. Let’s wait and watch how this one
pans out
