Deepika Padukone and P V Sindhu have collaborated for a promotional video for
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Bharat Ki Laxmi’ movement. In the video, shared
by the ‘Padmaavat’ actress on social media, Deepika and P V Sindhu are seen
telling their stories and encouraging people to nominate women who have
contributed to society and made name for themselves. Bharat Ki Laxmi movement
is a campaign to honour Indian women who have made a mark with their
achievements in various fields for public good.
Sharing the video, Deepika wrote, “This
Diwali, let us throw light on & celebrate the contribution &
accomplishments of the women of our country! #BharatKiLaxmi (sic).”
Earlier, P V Sindhu also took to Twitter
to share the video. She wrote, “Societies grow when women are empowered and
their accomplishments are given a place of pride! I support PM @narendramodi ji
#BharatKiLaxmi movement. It celebrates extraordinary achievements of
extraordinary women of India. This Diwali, let’s celebrate womanhood.”
Replying to the shuttler’s tweet, PM Narendra Modi wrote,
“India’s Nari Shakti epitomises talent and tenacity, determination and
dedication. Our ethos has always taught us to strive for women empowerment.
Through this video, @Pvsindhu1 and @deepikapadukone excellently convey the
message of celebrating #BharatKiLaxmi.”
Through this movement, PM Narendra Modi urges people to
highlight the work of women of substance on social media platforms using the
hashtag ‘BharatKiLaxmi’.
In his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio programme, PM Modi talked
about this movement and said, “Encouraging Bharat ki Laxmi means strengthening
the path to success of the country and its people.”

Deepika Padukone is playing the role of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in
her upcoming film ‘Chhapaak’ directed by Meghna Gulzar. The film is slated to
