Ever since its
opening, Mahe has soon climbed the ladder of being one of the most popular coastal cuisine
restaurants in Goa. Especially known for their Manglorean and Kerala dishes and
those carefully crafted cocktails, Mahe is a favourite for many. The subtle
ambiance of Mahe is ever so inviting and with 2 different sit out areas, a
fully loaded bar and even a lifestyle store, Mahe never disappoints.
In a continued effort to keep their patrons amused and
entertained, Mahe keeps coming up with interesting concepts every now and then.
Be it the Funked Up Bar Nights or Musical Evenings, Mahe leaves no stone
unturned to bring something new and fresh for its clients. And now Mahe is all
set to bring a very tried and tested concept but in a new avatar.
Moving away from the rather regular and slightly boring concept
of Thalis, #CoastalPlates are Mahe are a fresh and welcome change to this
age-old concept.
While the concept is broadly the same, but the presentation is
far more appealing. Just the way the food at Mahe is Modern Coastal, these
Coastal Plates are a modern take on the thali system.
The portions served are sufficient for one person, and our
served in smaller quantities as compared to a regular dish, but you don’t get
to see those steel thalis and katoris, what you rather get is each item served
in smart and classy bowls arranged around a plate to give it a wholesome meal
feeling.
The Costal Plates
come with pre-set menus and there are three different variations to it, Veg, Chicken
& Fish. The non-veg coastal plate consists of rice, Chicken Chettinad,
Chicken 65, Dal of the day, Poriyal of the day, Pickle, Papad, and the infamous
Gun Powder, the fish coastal plate retains the vegetable and dal and other
accompaniments, but the starter is replaced by a Fried Fish and the main course
is the very popular dish Mahe Prawns Curry.
The rice served in
the coastal plates are the authentic brown rice that are a staple down south.
The flavours are as
perfect as they can get and all efforts have been made to bring out the best in
every dish possible. These pre-set coastal plates are specially curated from
the dishes that are part of Mahe’s regular menu, and the best part is that you
get to try a variety of dishes in one go. Trying the chicken and fish plates,
we can easily pick on some of the favourites. The chicken 65, fish fry and
prawns curry were a highlight and don’t forget to lick that pickle away. It
will surely leave you asking for more. Let alone the food, even the
accompaniments like pickle and papad are so delicious that you can’t have
enough of them. Priced at Rs 395, 495 and 595 respectively for Veg, Chicken and
Fish, these coastal plates are worth every penny spent.
We
wish Mahe would consider adding a dessert to their coastal plates and there
could be nothing better. Nevertheless, enjoy these wonderful meals and thank us
later.
