Goa Consumer Expo opens

MARGAO: The six day Goa’s popular Consumer Expo on home and lifestyle products got underway at the SGPDA ground, Margao on Wednesday. The expo was inaugurated at the hands of Margao Municipal Councillor Pratima Coutinho.
The exhibition will be open from 10.30 am to 9 pm until May 5. A number of stalls displaying products ranging from home appliances to electronics, consumer goods to cosmetics have been set up at the Expo.
Pratima has called upon the people of South Goa take advantage of the exposition saying the people can do the shopping under one roof. Complimenting the organisers for holding the Expo, Pratima said the Goa Consumer Expo is different from other exhibition being held in city as the products displayed are branded.
Carton Pimenta of “city Centre” who is participating at the exhibition for the first time said that such exhibition give opportunity to the sellers to showcase new products. Galaxy S5 – 16 GB mobile has been launched at stall which gives 5% cash back on SBI credit card as well EMI facility on SBI credit card on the mobile launched which has a number of attractive features. Also launched at this stall is JBL portable music system. There are lot of new stalls at the exhibition home furniture, Lazy bags, agrox services, roti maker, Galaxy Security dealing in CCTVs etc, Sumeet Mixtures and grinders, magic mops, mobile shopee induction cooker, Racold solar heater, fitness equipment, kitchen equipment, Panasonic products, wall paintings, food staff, imported ceramic items, dress material, sandals and shoes etc are products available at the stalls. Various types of health products are also available.

HDFC Bank sets Guinness record
PANJIM: HDFC Bank has created a new Guiness World Record. The annual blood donation drive organised by the bank in December 2013 has been recognised as the largest effort of its kind across the globe.
“The largest blood donation (multiple venues) involved 61,902 participants and was achieved by HDFC Bank Ltd. (India), with 1,115 blood donation camps held across 709 locations in India on December 6, 2013,” states the official citation from Guinness World Record.
This unique record was possible only due to the support of the volunteers that came forward to be a part of the campaign. Through this campaign which is now in its seventh year, HDFC Bank is providing a critical resource for sustaining lives – blood.
Epson bags awards
PANJIM: Editors and journalists from photography magazines around the world have recognized two Epson products in the prestigious TIPA Awards 2014. The winning Epson products this year were the Epson Expression Photo XP-950, which was named “Best Photo Printer,” and the Epson EH-TW7200, which won the award for “Best Photo Projector.”
TIPA – the Technical Image Press Association – judges the innovation, technology, design, ease-of-use and price-to-performance ratio of products launched in a 12-month period to develop a shortlist and winner for each award category.

Vilkhoo takes charge as Sr Div manager, LIC, Goa
PANJIM: Sawinder Pal Singh Vilkhoo has taken charge as senior divisional manager of LIC of India, Goa Divisional Office having jurisdiction in the State of Goa.
He succeeds Suresh Chandra Acharya who is transferred to Zonal Office, Patna.
A direct recruit officer having joined the Corporation in 1989, Vilkhoo has worked in various capacities such as Asstt Secretary (HRD), Kanpur, Marketing Manager, Jalandhar and Sr Div Manager, Bhavnagar prior to this posting.
Idea Cellular Q4 gross revenue up 17%
PANJIM: Idea continues being the fastest growing Indian mobile operator with 17.3% growth in gross revenue in FY14 to Rs 2,65,036, nearly double the wireless Industry growth rate. The 6.5% sequential quarterly revenue growth in Q4FY14 is driven by sharp expansion of voice minutes @8.6% to 157.1 billion minutes and mobile data volume (2G+3G) growth @ 31.0% to 27.3 billion MB vs Q3FY14, indicating strong consumer demand for Idea mobile telephony.
The company clocked 17.7 million Net subscribers on VLR in FY14 against 14.9 million Net subscriber VLR additions in FY13 strengthening its presence in Indian Mobile Market. Idea now serves 137.9 million quality subscribers as on 31st March 2014. The company strengthened its competitive standing with ‘VLR Subscriber Market Share’ @17.3% (February 2014) & ‘Revenue Market Share’ (RMS) @16.1% in Q3FY14, an RMS improvement of over 1.3% compared to Q3FY13. The quality of Idea subscribers also improved as ARPU increased to Rs.173 (vs Rs.169 in Q3FY14) and subscriber blended churn fell by 1.4% to 4.2% (vs Q3FY14).
The three quarters uptrend of ‘Average Realisation per Minute’ (ARPM) was halted with decline in ARPM by 2.8% to 43.6p from 44.9p but the voice elasticity of demand more than compensated the ARPM fall. In comparison, the company improved ‘Non Voice Revenue’ share to 16.5% (16.1% in Q3FY14) led by data growth.
