The news of the indefinite suspension of Sarita Devi for refusing the bronze medal has come as a bombshell to the sports lovers of this country and this comes after she was exonerated after giving an unconditional apology. This goes to prove that there is an anti-Indian sports lobby calling the shots which is determined to punish her.
Sarita may have let her emotions overcome her but than what do you expect of sportspersons who have put in years of toil and hard work only in a matter of three minutes to be deprived of their rightful reward due to partisan and biased judging. Why is it always the sportspersons who to face the brunt and the officials/referees/judges who at the end go home with their fat pay packets or go scot free, leaving the sportsmen/women heartbroken and devastated.
The sports fraternity/officials/Sports Ministry should solidly stand behind Sarita in her time of despair before another of our star boxers bids a premature adieu to the sport.
