Entry tax

Goa has to review its decision to impose road tax on vehicles from all over India and exempt goods vehicles registered in Maharashtra and Karnataka from paying this Road tax mainly because of two reasons.

First – Because we are interdependent, in fact more dependent, on these states for our vegetables and a whole lot of essential goods needed every day.
Second- Because both these states are free to levy a hefty tax on all vehicles from Goa going across to their states and all vehicles from Goa going out of this state have to cross into Maharashtra or Karnataka unless we ship them to other states by Ocean liners.
Another compulsory exercise that can be carried out at all these check-posts is to check the documents of all vehicles entering the state , find out how long they will stay before departing Goa , and if the documents are in order allow them into the state, issue tax receipt for entry fees and a certificate that they cannot be stopped by our police for document checks, as happens a few times daily at all odd places for these visitors, often by rogue cops to extort money.
