Is the politician’s life more important?
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stated that the team of expert doctors who had been flown all the way from Delhi to check Ayush Minister Shripad Naik have also examined those COVID +ve MLAs. Why could the Goa Government not request these doctors to also check other patients who are battling the virus at our COVID hospitals?

Is the life of the politicians any more important than that of the common man? Every COVID patient in the State has a right to get the best medical care alike anyone else. Will the Goa Government fly in doctors from Delhi to examine our poor patients or is this only the privilege of the politicians.
While the cash rich politicians and their families get unlimited free medical care at private hospitals, the common man has to borrow money against jewellery and property with a hope that the patient will survive.
We all saw how our cash-strapped State squandered those crores on the medical treatment of former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar though he was terminally ill. The irony is that even a day before his death while we all knew the factual position, the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had the audacity of misleading us that all the parameters of Manohar Parrikar were fine.
The time has come that the Government should ensure that the level of medical care is the same for every citizen. Not a paisa more or a paisa less. This may also see radical improvement of health care in government hospitals. All the political parties need to come to a consensus on this. Even if there needs to be a public agitation towards ensuring this, so be it. Good health care for all even the poorest of the poor should be out focused thrust. Equality for all is anyway in the preamble of our Constitution of India.

Opening of bars and taverns
South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has emphasized that bars in the state need to open. He said that bars are a part of Goan culture hence the state government could take up the issue with the central government with regards to opening of the bars.
In Goa much of the business activities have restarted after Unlockdown 1.0 from June 1, including restaurants, hotels, wholesale liquor business, etc. except the bars. Many restaurants have bars attached to it. However the bar section is not functioning. It must be said that hundreds of families in the state depend on the bars, as also the taverns that operate in the villages, for their livelihood. These families could be left with no source of income. Hence it would be desirable for the government to allow functioning of these bars and taverns by maintaining social distancing just like in restaurants and hotels.
When liquor is available in the wholesale shops, people could be consuming liquor in their homes and in open spaces, including the beaches, under the cover of darkness. Bars and taverns could be allowed to function with social distancing maintained by having fewer tables and chairs within the premises. This will allow those families engaged in the business, to earn their livelihood.

A disaster waiting to happen
The collapse of a five-storey apartment at Mahad in Raigad in which 17 people perished was a disaster waiting to happen. The building started developing cracks three years after it was constructed and the poor quality of construction material used by the builder is believed to have brought it down.
Four-year-old Mohamed Bangi must count himself lucky for being pulled out of the rubble alive but his mother and sisters were not so fortunate. All those responsible for the tragedy must be brought to heel.

What is govt doing about rising Covid cases
The rate of increase in Covid cases and simultaneously the increase in number of Covid deaths is very high and alarming. What the Goa Government is up to? It looks the situation is going out of control. It looks as if when the roof of the house is leaking very badly and Goa Government is busy in increasing the number of buckets which are used to collect the leaking water instead of sealing the leaking roof of the house.
AIIMs doctors visited Manipal hospital and said everything in the hospital is in right direction. Was the opinion of the doctors same when they have visited GMC and Covid Hospital? Why Goa Government is taking things lightly. Everywhere mismanagement is visible. How hospital authorities can tell relatives to take the body of a Covid-19 patient home at 3.30am. Which SOP says so? Initially there were 3 to 4 deaths daily but nowadays 7, 8 and even 9 deaths daily. Is the Covid situation under control?
MPs, MLAs and even ministers, Government servants, policemen are all affected by this deadly virus. Rave parties, social parties, drug trafficking, weddings are in full swing. And for what more to happen is our Goa Government is waiting? Is our Government is really serious? That’s the big question for us Goans.

Save trees for our future
Men is only creature on Earth who has power to destroy and create. Men for his greed cut down the trees and the effect we can see today that the level of carbon dioxide is raining up due to which the glacier of north and south poles are melting which is dangerous for entire world.
Trees intake carbon dioxide and also keep balance in environment. If trees are being cut carbon dioxide will increase at tremendous amount later which will be uncontrollable. To control all these afforestation must be carried out.
Trees are very important for human being as well as animals, the oxygen we inhale, we get it from trees, all animals and tiny insects depends on trees. They are shelter for some animals, for some they provide food. Trees play a vital role in climate change. If deforestation goes on increasing then it will be dangerous for our lives, if there will be no trees and there will be no life. If we don’t grow trees we will not receive rain due to which farmer will face problem in agriculture.
Until we don’t save present there will be no future. Think about future generations of our world.

Crime tourism
We woke up to the news a while back that some self-proclaimed Bollywood actor along with a co-promoter of an EDM festival have been granted bail post haste in the drug fuelled Vagator rave party case.
A paedophile masquerading as a hotelier arrested for raping a differently abled minor was also let off easily by a local court , recently an Israeli was granted bail in another drug related case …. the way things are going, Goa would become (in) famous for ‘crime tourism’ .
Non-Goans visit the state for a while, commit reprehensible crimes, secure a quick bail and then exit the state; all in connivance with politicians and wheeler dealers at the helm. We talk of making Goa a crime free heaven but it appears the state is turning into a criminal’s haven (and they are having a free run of our paradise). The state is fast becoming a ‘preferred destination’ (pardon the term) for perpetrators of heinous acts. Both political will and judicial steel are required to punish such vermin. The laws of the land should be amended to make offences like rape and drug peddling non bailable, and once charges are proved death penalty should be awarded as is done in countries like Indonesia and Saudi Arabia. This would act as an effective deterrent for potential offenders.
