As per the Deputy Supdt. of Police (Traffic) Guruprasad Mahapne, the Traffic Department has mulled a host of measures to ease congestion at Navelim junction, like ban on entry of inter-state heavy vehicles, through Navelim during peak hours, especially during peak school hours, etc. The Navelim MLA and Fisheries Minister, Avertano Furtado proposed the Jackniband Rawanfond bypass for heavy and interstate traffic and the proposed widening of the existing highway between the Navelim church and Jackniband.
The million dollar question is when these proposals will see the light of day and until such time how many more lives will be sacrificed at the altar of the govt. especially the Road Traffic Dept .
