That my visit to the family is the least thing I could do”. These were humble words of Mr Joel Morais of Cuncolim in his letter to the Herald Editor dated 15.11.2015. I use the same words and say the least I can do too, is to say to you, all brave hearts of Goa, you who have marched out and paid your tribute to this prophet of Goa of our times, you too have in you the seeds of the prophet of God. I feel proud to be one among you who have put down our foot not to accept the lie that Fr Dias died of drowning. All of you who have expressed a little anger disappointment and frustration do not give up, the truth will come out and justice will be on his side.
Fr Dias lived a life for others. Someone said, l rather die a meaningful death then live a meaningless life, Fr Dias’ life was all about the meaningful life. Living the Three L’s Live, Love and Leave a legacy. I am sure for many of you, like-minded people, it was a privilege to share this journey with Father Dias a man for others. The great tribute to Fr Bismarque is not only sorrow, but gratitude. His death is the dropping of the flower that the fruit may swell (Henry Wood). This is a call to the rest of us to continue the fight. He is with us in spirit.
Fr Bismarque flittered with death. No death threats stopped him from believing that he has a mission to carry, to walk the less travelled road the journey to save our land and to be on the side of people made poor. Flirting with death is the spice of life of a man who lives fully and is prepared to die anytime for others for the earth ‘our home’
The power of his life will be realized now in what steps you take. Give up or carry on the fight. There may be a lot of frustration and anger, some people with no honesty and integrity will say a lot of offensive things to cover up the truth but there are others who can sense the truth. We are no kids! To Goa he might be just one person but to the poor he is the world
The light in the life of Fr Bismarque Dias may have been snubbed out. Not really, he has joined the stars. Look up and you will see him smiling. He won the race and from there is cheering us on. Do not give up, fight the good fight it’s worth it! Good people are still around doing their best in a difficult and sometimes discouraging world. You are the Good People.
To know this, may you be liberated of all sadness and helplessness.
