RIP Kissan, Jai Jawan…

My post retirement plans of becoming a full time Kissan (farmer/agriculturist) has turned to smoke. Like many other people, my fertile agricultural land has been robbed, not by an alien enemy by my own government without paying me a paisa.
Our Jawans (soldiers/army) lay down their precious life to protect our land from our enemies for our sake, but our government misuses our land in the name of public utility projects. Post liberation period, especially after 30 years, has shown a lot of destruction of Goa’s agricultural lands in the name of development both by Government and Builders. Land owners find it very difficult, but builders can easily do land conversions.
Our agricultural land area is diminishing at an alarming rate, what the alien colonial rulers could not do in 450 years is made possible by our representatives in the name of progress and development. We will for sure have tall buildings, wider roads, best of cars, etc. but we will not have agricultural land and our beautiful natural landscape. Have we paused for a while to think what will be its impact on our next generation? Our ancestors thought of us and had left a lot of agricultural land for our self sufficiency but… Every successive government has helped in destruction of agricultural land in the name of development. Is there any case where in our agriculture department has acquired land from people who don’t cultivate to promote agriculture by bringing in farmer’s of other states?
“Jai kissan is turning to RIP kissan”. May be in future we will have to dismantle the Agriculture Department along with the post of Agriculture minister. I feel sad to see fertile land of Fatorda, Nuvem, Cortalim, Agassaim, and other places being destroyed although it was under cultivation. Poor farmers are suffering in silence and will continue to suffer until divine forces intervene now or never.
The people responsible for Goa’s destruction should get summons to their final abode soon. Our elected representatives are become pawns/subordinates of the centre. Projects cooked in Delhi are served in Goa, the only vision is destroy Goa. Only God can save Goa to allow our hills remain hills, fields remain fields and ponds remain ponds.
