The world is facing a severe crisis due to two ongoing wars. One war is between Russia and Ukraine, while the other involves Israel against Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, who are mainly backed by Iran. Amidst this turmoil, the American people are preparing to vote in an election reminiscent of the past.

In the previous election, Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton. Ironically, Clinton received 3 million more votes than Trump, but lost, because Trump secured a majority in the Electoral College.
This time, Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party appears to have more support, according to mainstream media reports. However, Trump also seems to match her support, given his experience in the White House. As a result, the race appears to be very evenly poised.
The people of America will not forget that Trump survived an assassination attempt, and that the assailant nearly succeeded in killing the former president. The assassin managed to pierce Trump’s right earlobe with the first of eight bullets fired.
The most interesting aspect of this election is that until now in the history of the United States, no woman has won a presidential election in the world’s oldest democracy and thus has gained a lot of traction. Kamala Harris could change that if the American people decide to support her in the Electoral College duel, where 270 votes are needed to win.
The American electorate is different from voters in many other countries. They are less likely to be swayed by superficial factors and more inclined to support a candidate with substance and decisiveness. As the first debate between Trump and Harris approaches on September 10, the American people are going to be treated to one of the most anticipated debates, which until now, looks almost evenly balanced. It may be argued the debate could be the first decisive outcome of how the voters in America align themselves depending upon which candidate impresses them the most.
Both sides are working overtime to make an impact by leaving no stone unturned in preparations for what will be called the first big fight between Trump and Harris. On social media, both camps exude confidence. Influential figures are posting comments that highlight the stakes for the White House and for the opportunity of either candidate to rule the richest democracy in the world.
It seems interesting this time that ‘capitalists’ as well as a now common refrain of ‘communists’ have a tendency to percolate into the politics of America. Traditionally, America has been an imperialist country that has credited itself with individuals and businesses that have outshone the very best in the world. Make no mistake, until now America is heavily tilted in the direction of being seen as a country wherein result-oriented and quality-based remains the best benchmark between the victor and the vanquished.
It may also be stressed that the heart of America and its soul will be put to a very stern test in the quest of that candidate that will then go on to lead America for the next four years. The world is waiting with bated breath as the tussle heats up and the electorate decides on whether to ‘Ace’ up Trump or to make Harris the ‘Queen of Hearts’ in America. By the rules of the game, the American electorate will have the final say.
