What gave Trump the majority popular vote, could be that, though the US’ blue chip companies like Apple, Meta Platforms, Tesla and Microsoft made tremendous economic strides, the benefit of these gains did not percolate to the majority of the Americans.
Thus, the promise that Trump made to generate employment opportunities and to increase wages seems to have appealed to the masses who then responded by voting for him right across all strata of society such as the whites, blacks, Latinos as well as women. Illegal immigration was also a major issue that Trump’s platform addressed and which seemed to have worked out in his favour.

Elon Musk, who is the owner of Tesla which has manufacturing facilities in China will have to play an important role in sorting out differences with China on the issue of tariffs on electrical vehicles as well as solar power panels which should be handled with utmost caution so that the interests of both US and China are not adversely impacted.
Musk’s expertise in the business sector will be a great opportunity for America to regain its lost ground in the manufacturing sector and bring about efficiency in the industrial sector in the US as the head of a specially to be formed department in the Trump administration.
