The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said it would examine a video clip circulating online in which former United States President Donald Trump is purportedly heard making remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his political career.

Addressing the issue during his weekly media briefing, MEA Official Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that he had not viewed the video in question.
“I have not seen the video. But if such a video exists, and whether it is true or false, we will take appropriate action,” Jaiswal said in response to a query.
The clarification comes after a clip from Trump’s earlier press conference with the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation resurfaced on social media. In the video, Trump is seen praising Prime Minister Modi, describing him as “a great man” and stating that Modi “loves Trump.”
Trump, however, also appeared to caution against reading too much into the term, asking that the word “love” not be interpreted in any other manner.
The MEA has maintained that it will first verify the authenticity of the video before commenting further on the matter.
