PM Modi Inaugurates Four New Trains in Kerala, Unveils SVANidhi Credit Card for Street Vendors

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (January 23, 2026) flagged off three newly allotted Amrit Bharat Express trains and one passenger train service for Kerala during a programme held in Thiruvananthapuram. The Prime Minister inaugurated the services virtually at around 11 am from Putharikandam Maidanam in the state capital.

The new train services include the Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express, the Nagercoil–Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express, and the Thiruvananthapuram–Charlappalli Amrit Bharat Express. While two of the Amrit Bharat Express trains departed from Thiruvananthapuram Central station, the Charlappalli-bound service was flagged off from Thiruvananthapuram North station.

In addition, the Thrissur–Guruvayur passenger train was flagged off from Thrissur station. All four trains departed for their respective destinations shortly after the inaugural ceremony.
