Tight security as India celebrates 77th Republic Day

India is marking its 77th Republic Day with elaborate celebrations at Kartavya Path in New Delhi on Monday, January 26, 2026. The annual parade will highlight the nation’s development, rich cultural diversity and growing military capabilities. Displays include newly raised defence units and mock-ups of weapon systems used in Operation Sindoor.

The parade will commence at 10.30 am after Prime Minister Narendra Modi pays homage at the National War Memorial. European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are attending as chief guests.
