Video shows three men harassing Northeast woman on temple route, sparks outrage online

A video circulating on social media has triggered widespread anger after showing a woman from Northeast India allegedly being followed and catcalled by three men while she was walking towards a temple. The woman, identified as Chiro, shared the clip on Instagram, explaining that the men appeared to assume she did not understand Hindi. In the footage, the men can be seen smiling, singing a Bollywood song loudly, and making gestures while continuing to walk behind her despite noticing they were being recorded.

Chiro later clarified that she kept smiling in the video to remain calm and avoid escalating the situation, adding that she finally felt safe only after waiting for friends to join her. She also dismissed claims that the video was staged, stating that her intention was to highlight the reality many women face in public spaces and encourage conversations around safety and accountability.
