PANJIM: The Chief Minister Pramod Sawant-led government will have to answer 409 starred and 893 un-starred questions during the 20-day Monsoon Session of Goa Legislative Assembly, which begins on July 15.
Speaking to reporters after the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, Speaker Rajesh Patnekar said the session will have 20 working days. “There are 409 starred and 893 un-starred questions. The last date to submit the questions is July 17,” he informed.
The Speaker said so far no bills or private members’ resolutions have been submitted.
“The first two days will be discussion on Governor’s address followed by two days of General discussions on budget while the remaining 15 days would be on demands,” he said.
The session is going to be the first test of Sawant government, which took charge of the State in March, as it will be the first full-fledged session he would face as Chief Minister.
In the 40-member State Assembly, BJP is the single largest party with 17 MLAs, while its allies Goa Forward Party and Independents have three each. Congress has 15 MLAs, while MGP and NCP have one each.
MGP which supported Congress’ candidate during the Speaker’s election, held on June 4, is yet to officially withdraw its support from the Sawant-led government.
The session will discuss the State Budget 2019-20, though a full-fledged budget was not tabled in the House owing to the ill-health of then chief minister late Manohar Parrikar.
