MARGAO: Colva police on Thursday arrested three youth on the charges of outraging modesty and attempt to rape a girl.
Police gave the names of arrested accused as Rosario Fernandes, Chatur Rajput, 17, Vijay Shane, 18 all from Benaulim while the fourth accused is absconding.
The incident occurred late Wednesday night when the victim girl who was waiting to go home saw Fernandes and Rajput, whom she knew, coming on a motorcycle requested for a lift upto her house. The duo agreed to give her a lift, but instead of dropping at her house, they took the victim to a lonely place along the beach were both accused molested her and later the accused Rajput is said to have phoned and called two other friend Shane and absconding accused who also molested the victim and attempted to rape her.
Luckily the victim managed to escape from the clutches of the four accused and reach her home at midnight and then telephoned police control room at Panjim from her mobile. Later, on Thursday morning the victim filed her complaint at Colva police who registered an offence under section 354 and 376 IPC and arrested three accused. Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Tulshidas Naik.
