VASCO: A Drishti lifesaving team at Baina and Velsao Beach rescued three people from drowning, on Thursday. According to Drishti lifesavers, the first incident took place at around 2.30 pm off the coast of Baina, wherein a fishing boat with 10 people capsized.
Eight out of the 10 managed to reach the shore while two fishermen, who got caught up in a rip current, were saved by the lifeguards. In the second incident at Velsao Beach, a fishing boat’s engine reportedly shut off and had a difficulty to start. The boat was stranded 150 metres out at sea. Due to the high waves, the boat began to rock vigorously while drifting towards the shore. One crew member jumped into the water in panic, but was rescued by the lifesavers with the help of a Jetski.
