According to Vasco PI Sagar Ekoskar, a team of 10 police personnel, including six police constables, two female constables, a lady home guard, and the jeep driver from the Vasco police station, were travelling to the Verna police station for bandobast duty at the grounded pontoon site at Arossim beach.
“As per information, the driver of the police jeep, while proceeding towards the Birla Circle from Vasco, attempted to overtake a truck, but suddenly, stray cattle appeared in front on the jeep. To avoid hitting the cattle, the jeep driver applied the break and hit the road divider. The impact was such that the jeep fell on the other side of the four-lane road,” said Ekoskar.
Out of the 10 occupants, five sustained minor injuries while the rest escaped unhurt. Verna police have registered a case.
