PANJIM: After being stung by its Delhi minister being embroiled in a fake education certificate controversy, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa unit has alleged that PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar’s degree ‘may not exist.’
Speaking to media persons, AAP secretary Valmiki Naik said that Dhavalikar had in his sworn affidavit submitted before the 2012 elections, as well as on several government websites, listed him as having completed BSc from Parvatibai Chowgule College (University of Mumbai) in the academic year 1979-80.
“We have sufficient evidence to believe this degree does not exist but we would want for the minister himself to produce this certificate in 24 hours,” said Naik.
In a letter to the chief minister, AAP has asked for the minister to clarify whether or not he does in fact have a degree. “We are just asking because we have reason and evidence to believe otherwise. Based on the reaction we get, we will be taking the next step,” Naik said, adding that evidence against the minister would be revealed after 24 hours.
He said that if the minister was found not to have the degree, he would be charged under Sec 420 for cheating.
that could also lead to jail time of two years. The chief minister would have to take the first step, Naik said, failing which the party would register an FIR with the police.
“A lot of research has gone into the claims we have made and since there has been no strong opposition to the ruling government, AAP though having no position in the assembly, will act as the true opposition,” said AAP member Dinesh Vaghela.
