PANJIM: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has urged State Directorate of Education to replicate Arvind Kejriwal led government’s Delhi educational reforms to ensure quality education to every child in Goa.
AAP delegation led by Pradeep Padgaonkar submitted memorandum to Education Department requesting them to visit Delhi to study educational reforms there and replicate the same in Goa.
“As you may have heard, the education reforms carried out by the Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi have received acclaim not only across the country but internationally as well. Goa could learn and improve from many of the initiatives and innovations, such as a focus on learning instead of just teaching, training & empowerment of principals & teachers, revision of syllabus, and constant oversight and inspection by the Education Minister himself,” the memorandum reads.
Padgaonkar said the impact of the reforms has been so considerable, that it has triggered a slow and steady reverse migration from private schools to Government-run schools, a phenomenon unheard of anywhere in the country.
“Regardless of the party in power, or other such political compulsions, it is the responsibility of the Directorate of Education to work on long-term delivery of quality education to every child in the state. Some other States like Karnataka have already initiated the process of learning and implementing some of Delhi’s reforms in their own states,” the memorandum states.
“In this context, we urge you to visit Delhi and review for yourself the various successful efforts AAP government,” the delegation said.
The party has threatened to agitate, if department fails to submit a written response within a month’s time.
The party has also demanded performance review of all the schemes offered by the department towards welfare of the students.
