ANJIM: The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Vigilance department has filed a chargesheet in the eight-year-old case against the suspended civil supplies inspector Jercy Pinto case before the Special Judge under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA).
The chargesheet under sections 7 read with 13(1) (d) of the PCA, 1988 was filed on Tuesday.
As per the chargesheet, on June 1, 2006, ACB sleuths caught Pinto red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 1,000 from a Cacora-resident Pramod Gokuldas Naik Borkar who is a complainant in this case.
Borkar had alleged in his complaint to the ACB SP, that Pinto, posted in the office of the Mamlatdar of Quepem (Civil Supplies Section) had been demanding a bribe of Rs 1,000 from him to help him in the Show Cause Notice issued by the Mamlatdar of Quepem.
The ACB team laid a trap to apprehend Pinto red-handed and succeeded. Thereafter, the accused was arrested and remanded to the police custody for three days. In all, total 43 witnesses have been named apart from the documentary evidence in the said charge sheet.
