VASCO: Miscreants reportedly used acid to kill a tree as it was obstructing a hoarding on the dead wall of a building in Vasco.
It may be recalled that about three years ago, the owner of the hoarding had allegedly chopped off an Ashoka tree next to Bank of India to make way to display the hoarding and the forest department, the previous council and the chief officer had reportedly failed to take action against the culprit.
Local taxi owners and motorcycle pilots after protesting, planted the sapling of a Peepal tree at the same spot.
When contacted, the motorcycle pilots said they had planted the sapling and during summer they watered it. “However in April, we were surprised to see the tree withering and within a month, the tree died and we have been told that acid has been used to kill it.” they said.
