PANJIM (HR):?A lawyer activist today filed a caveat against Advocate General (AG) Subodh Kantak before Bombay High Court at Goa.
The caveat has been filed by advocate Aires Rodrigues anticipating that the AG may move High Court against the notice issued to him by the Goa State Information Commission.
The Commission directed Kantak to appear before it in person on January 21 in connection with the complaint filed against him for not complying with the Right to Information (RTI) Act.
Rodrigues in his caveat has prayed that no order be passed without notice to him on any petition that may be filed before the High Court by AG Kantak.
In his petition before the Commission, Rodrigues had stated that the AG is a Public Authority as defined in section 2 (h) of the RTI Act 2005, being a constitutional authority constituted under the Constitution of India
He further stated that the failure to comply with the provisions of the Act for over five years was a matter of concern given that the AG was the first law officer of the State.
