All Goa Drivers Union Slams Taxi Harassment in Colva

The All Goa Drivers Union (AGDU) submitted a strongly worded memorandum dated March 24, 2026, to the Colva Police Station Inspector, accusing unauthorized local taxi stand operators of ongoing harassment against legitimate drivers. Despite a December 2025 police warning, AGDU claims illegal operators continue obstructing union taxis, demanding “booking letters,” blocking passenger pickups, and issuing threats, creating law-and-order risks in the busy tourist area.

Union members emphasized that Goa Transport Department rules permit licensed drivers with valid permits to collect phone or online bookings without physical documentation demands. “These interferences violate our legal rights and threaten driver safety,” the memorandum stated, echoing persistent South Goa taxi turf tensions seen in prior incidents at Varca and Palolem.
